This was my first ever portrait of Hank Aaron, I am very happy with the end result. Never did I imagine, even for a second, that just about a month after drawing this portrait the world would lose Hammerin' Hank. Rest in peace, Mr. Aaron. You were the true home run king!
Remember how much fun it was to make art as children? We didn't worry too much about straight lines or perfect shapes. As we grew older, so-called "rules" were put into our minds about how our artwork is "supposed to look." Suddenly our focus was on being perfect and not breaking those so-called rules. Suddenly making art was no longer fun. If we become as children once again, and make art as we did back then, imagine how much fun it will be. Imagine how beautiful our artwork will become if we focus on creativity rather than perfection. Remember, imperfections will make your art perfect!

This beautiful piece is done in the fascinating style of analytical cubism, and portrays the almost daily life in the news of today. Unfortunately, a lot of the news we receive these days is bad, depressing, negative, or worrisome. In this piece there is a lot of activity and movement, representing the chaos in the world today. There are small, hidden hints of newspapers along with words and letters. You'll notice most of these elements are few, and they are out towards the outer edges of the painting. This is to represent the fact that we no longer read a newspaper as much as we did years ago. Little by little this activity is disappearing, being taken over by today's technology. The dark, grey and black tone of the painting represents the darkness and negativity the news brings with it so often. The word "News" at the top of the canvas represents the hope of looking to the future. The word is moving upward as though wanting to move to the other side of the canvas, as if it were trying to leave behind the chaos and darkness... hoping for light on the other side.
One of my all-time favorites, this piece was done in the style synthetic cubism. Cubism happens to be my favorite style of abstract art. Roses and violins happen to be my two favorite subjects to paint. Here, all three of these “favorites” were combined to create “A Rose And A Violin!”
Not only is this one of my personal favorites, but it is also one of my most popular paintings of all time. The "Lady In Red" would be the first in a series of many dancer paintings over the next couple of years. This particular piece was done entirely with a palette knife. Not a single brush was used in creating this beauty!
"Standing Proud" is an original oil painting done on a 15" x 30" gallery wrapped canvas! All four edges are painted solid black.
